The hands on the time machine clock have been spinning backwards for hours. The drive is fairly warm.
I've had it connected about a week, looked like it was updating every hour, don't know what happened.
Can it be reset? Would I have to "initialize" the GoFlex and start over?
Can't open Time Machine preferences to turn off time machine.
Thanks for any help.

I had to use the power button on the iMac to turn off and restart. I was then able to eject the drive, then I disconnected the cable to let it cool down.
Restarted the iMac, then connected the GoFlex an hour later. It entered time machine and appears ok.
I raised the drive off the desk a bit. It's sitting on a cable so it's about 3/16" off the table, running cooler.
Got to my desk this morning, everything is working.

Worked for about a day, then hung on me again. Couldn't open time machine preferences so I powered down and disinstalled the Seagate software.
Two days later, everything still working, Time Machine backups automatically every hour.
I now have the drive sitting on the metal support of my iMac. The case is cool to the touch except for one corner on the connector.
