Issues Installing GoFlex Desk in a Macbook Pro

I would appeciate any help to complete installation of GeoFlex Desk 2TB. I follow steps running Mac Installer.dmg and I was never asked for any option of Mac and PC or PC only. I restarted the computer and nothing happen after. I was trying to save files or drop into GoFlex and I couldn't. I was surprise of the lack of installation guide in the box reason I am seeking help in this forum. I am planning to use the HD at home using a Mac and PC.

Thank you for any information.

Re: Issues Installing GoFlex Desk in a Macbook Pro

I'm having similar trouble trying to install the Go-Flex Desk 2TB on my iMac.  My Mac meets all the min. requirements, so I'm not sure what's going on.

Re: Issues Installing GoFlex Desk in a Macbook Pro

I tried the suggestion in the post "Using 2TB GoFlex Desk for computer backup AND data..." and I can't change the name of drive to"FreeAgent GoFlex Drive." My issue is that I want to use the HD as data storage for a Mac and PC. I thought it was going to be simple but no documentation. I even setup the drive in the PC and nothing happened when I hooked to my Mac...

Re: Issues Installing GoFlex Desk in a Macbook Pro

I have two Seagate drives, both are firewire 800 connected to a new MacBook Pro placed in a Docking station.  The one I'm having problems with is a FreeAgent GoFlex Desk with the upgraded Firewire 800/USB 2.0 bottom attached.  The other is a Barracuda XT placed in a external case.  Both are 2 TB and used as my Photography Photo backup system.  The Barracuda is my main and then backuped to the GoFlex.  The problem I'm having was happening even before I introduced the Barracuda into the system and started using the Docking station.  The drive goes in and out on its own, it will disconnect, then re-connect throughout the day which provides me the message from my Mac that it was not ejected properly.  This closes down my overnight backup program when this happens causing a laps in my daily backups.  There is no reason this should be happening, I have checked all the connections and I have no problems from my other main external drive.  Any thoughts?

Re: Issues Installing GoFlex Desk in a Macbook Pro

Hey Alan,

That was the first request and I got a response telling me to do just that, but I sent back an email sharing that I was unable to do that...no drop down menu that worked to change it.  So, I put in a second and third request...new numbers assigned, which today I got a response.  They sent me a link that would turn off the GoFlex internal Sleep mode.  Waiting to see if this corrected the issue.

Re: Issues Installing GoFlex Desk in a Macbook Pro

If its the GoFlex, it could be trying to go to sleep and just not doing so properly, causing it to drop offline. Try the below link and see if that helps any.
