I wish to make a strong complaint about the advice I have just received from Jean-Philipe (one of your "recovery experts"). I spoke to him earlier today on their freephone number.
I explained the circumstances of "lost" data on my newly purchased 1 TB GoFlex Desk when I received a "Delayed Write Failed" notice. He told me that it would cost between £900 and £1,300 for them to open up the drive and hopefully recover the small, but important amount of data I had copied to the drive. He said not to continue to use the drive. He gave me no other hope.
Having now accessed information of "Common Issues" (AlanM Administrator) on the Seagate Forum, I have found an article "Delayed Write Failure". Taking the GoFlex to another computer, as suggested, I have discovered that the data on the GoFlex drive is completely intact. I am a novice in these matters - so much for your "Recovery Expert". Is this simply a money making scam?
I am angry, disappointed and elated all at the same time!

I'm very glad to hear that your data hasn't been lost ![]()
That being said, be sure to always maintain two copies of your data, so that you won't ever have to take advantage of a data recovery service.
It would be good to provide feedback to the data recovery people
