My new FreeAgent GoFlex Desk 2 TB does not power up at Windows boot (Windows XP Home).
I think the problem is because it has a software switch, controlled by Dashboadr(?),
I have my entire system controlled by a Power Center, and one switch supplies electrical power to everything (computer, monitor, printer, router, speakers). After I boot Windows, if I click the icon in the System Tray I get a message no drive is connected. The light is not on on the drive. If I unplug the power to the drive and then reconnect it, the drive is "found".
I want to flip one switch and have my computer boot to Windows with the FreeAgent GoFlex Desk on and ready to be used by the backup software that came preinstalled on the drive. Is that possible?
A Seagate tech "helped" me with this issue to the extent that I lost all the installed Seagate installed and preloaded software, but that is another issue. However, if you know where I can download the free Memeo Instant Backup software, I would appreciate a link, URL. site, clue. Thanks

You need to contact Tech Support to get the Memeo software.

Problem resolved - sort of.
I am using a Dell Dimension 2400. It has 5 USB ports, 4 on the back and one on the front. When Ii use the one on the front, the GoFlex Desk drive works fine.
If I use any of the 4 ports on the back, I still have to unplug either the power or the data cord from the drive after boot for the drive to be recognized.
Interesting: My Zip drive, camera, and printer all use the ports on the front and the back without problems.
Anyway, I got the drive and software working and I am going to leave it plugged in the front.
