Hi,
My external HDD GoFlex - was working good, I was transferring files from another external drive to GoFlex, while transferring I was away, after sometime I noticed copying was stopped, McAfee detected risk, not such details, but after that clicking the opened windows started not responding, McAfee pop-up as well not responding.... forced to take out the external hard drives, windows back to normal. Connected the source external drive, detected, everything good, now I connected my external GoFlex drive, the familiar sound (while detecting external drive) came, and the icon at the taskbar (to safely remove the drive) appeared. GoFlex light was on. But waited for sometime, nothing came up(expecting autorun will work) so tried to open "My Computer" but it freezes after that, could not see anything. Clicked on icon at taskbar to safely remove the drive, that also did not work.
Rebooted laptop, but after then also same thing. I am using Windows Vista. Whenever I am connecting the Goflex drive, windows explorer freezes, even sometime other opened windows (e.g chrome) getting hung. On the GoFlex drive, light is always on, sounds are coming from inside. Tried three different USB ports, no luck.
Checked the Device Manager, Seagate product is showing in "Disk Drives", but under "Disk Management", nothing is showing up, even my Windows C/D drives (existing internal HDD partitions) not showing ( bottom of the window, it says connecting to virtual disk services....). I tried to disable and enable the disk drive, it hung after clicking disable. Need to remove the GoFlex to get back control to all the open windows, after disconnecting Disk Management showing all the existing internal HDD partitions properly.
Installed seatool, but it also got hung when GoFlex was connected. Seatool can detect the internal HDD< but not the external one.
Also did C drive clean up, rebooted the laptop, but still no luck.
Can anyone please help what to check next?
Searched the forum, but did not get any such solution to resolve this.
Please help.
Thanks in advance.

BTIB.
Broke, take it back. (Or replace it, rather.)
You could prolly try another cable and try another system to see what it does...but sounds broke to me.

The resolution i found from the experts, recovery and support/repair shop is that hard disk is now a scrap. All data is lost and if i want to recover the data i have to shell out big chunk of money.
i think seagate hard drive has lost its drive; other companies such a transcend hard drive are more sturdy and reliable. A big dissapointment from seagate.
