I bought this drive and now I need a USB flex cable for it. I see I can get a USB 2 or 3 flex cable for the same price. My question is can I buy a USB 3 flex cable and will it work on my USB 2 systems? That way when and if I get a USB 3 system I will be good to go.

Yes, they are fully cross-compatible.

So if you connect a USB 3.0 cable to a USB 2.0 port, it will work just fine, at 2.0 speeds.

And if you get a computer with USB 3.0 sometime in the future, it will function at 3.0.
