I have heard that Western digital and Seagate merged together, and I'm not quite sure which is better performance for External harddrives.
I am using Windows7 64 Bit with Q6600 Quad Intel, MSI-P35 Platinum MB, 8GB SDRAM-DDR2
I also don't know if either of these companies make different units for Costco/ Sam's club as opposed to BEST BUY, or FRY'S ELECTRONICS.
I was at Costco last week and they sold out the Western Digital MY BOOK ESSENTIAL 3TB USB/3.0/2.0, on sale for $109.00. They were back-ordered,
I got a 30 day rain check, but they told me they were substituting a SEAGATE 3TB GOFLEX instead. (# item 628531
Am I getting a better deal, or not? I already have a Western Digital 500GB EXT. HD, and would klike to keep it all the same.
At present, I have a Motherboard that supports only 2.0 USB, and I'm planning on upgrading my motherboard with a newer processor (Intel Sandy bridge i7) that supports 3.o Hi-Speed USB, so now I guess I'm looking for a 2.0/3.0 USB. Whether it be a WD, or SEAGATE,
I'm not sure which is better than the other.
Any help? Thank you!

So, which one did you get?
Any opinions on the difference now that you have used?
I'm getting ready to buy one or the other and the Seagate is $20 less expensive.
Have always gone WD, but could use $20 if comparable in 3TB model.
Thanks
