Same problem. Finder hangs on iMac, but the drive seems to work well on a PC.
In attempting the uninstall process suggested by wer110 above, I do not get an "Uninstall" option when de-selecting the "Seagate GoFlex Features" or "Paragon NTFS for Mac" items in the Custom Install screen.
iMac OS X 10.7.3, 3.1 GHz i5, 8 GB
When searching the disk for items containing "Seagate", I only see the "Seagate Drive Settings" and the "Paragon NtFS for Mac OS X", both in the Applications folder.
I'm a newbie with Mac. What other files need to be deleted. If uninstallation is a requirement, how do I do that in lieu of the "Install Seagate GoFlex" app handling it, which in my case, it apparently does not?
My goal, I believe, is to simply uninstall this stuff and then return the drive. Bummer, because the PC and Mac compatibility was a real selling point.
Thanks.

Hi,
Try downloading a new copy of the driver from the Seagate web site (you may have to update the driver first before you uninstall it) ... also I do not know about the paragon driver ... I always used Mac Fuse for NTFS compatibility support. On that note I'm not sure the paragon driver is the problem. Try dealing with the Seagate drivers first.
I hope this helps

Here's a link to the software, which also provides the latest driver update:
Let me know how that works out.

"latest driver"?
You must be kidding. It says it is for "Mac 10.6." that was the good ol' Snow Leopard. - What you might not know: We have, since ONE YEAR already, 10.7. out (Lion). Hello?
I have the drive freeagent goflex 1.5 TB with the FW800 add-on. Partitions are intended to be encrypted throuth Disk Utilityy. None of your fancy software installed for a reason (Paragon have a reputation...). Since Lion I have reasons not to trust this drive any more. Come on, Seagate has been a company with trustworty drives once.
I can only confirm all those things: under OSX Lion the drive is UNRELIABLE, unmounts suddenly even during writes, or cannot be unmounted another time (or only after a system restart). On the latest Lion version, I get red warning alerts from the Disk Utility that the drive has problems, which it cannot repair, even not after a reformat. (There seems to be an invisible 64 MB partition on it that cannot be get rid of thru formatting if I understand the logs right. ?)

Does this have a genuine solution? I have had my GoFlex hang 4 or 5 times during Disk Utility back up.
I have a GoFlex 1TB drive with Mac OX 10.6.7 Snow Leopard. The finder just hangs up requiring me to reboot entirely.

Apologies for the double post but I should also mention that the finder hangs up just when it has made an image of 126.9GB. Do you think the entire issue has something to do with the data or health of my mac disk? There are no issues showing up when I verify the disk through Disk utility. and there are no problems with the Seagate drive either as confirmed by Seagate utility.

I just posted on another (and there seem to be many) message threads about problems with the GoFlex for Mac - - I have Mac Book Pro, OSX 10.6.8, bought the 2T GoFlex a few days ago.....also getting many, but not all of these issues. i did not install seagates package of diagnostics, etc. Initial backup using TimeMachine was fine via firewire 800, but now seems my Mac won't recognize the drive....spending too much time unplugging / plugging / rebooting for this kind of device. seems to evenutally, if left alone and on its own, wake up, and allow TimeMachine to do a refresh backup. With so many people having so many problems, where is Seagate?? I'll gladly take my money back and go buy something that works. need a fix now!!!

this is a very helful post (in this thread from jonathanphanle 02-12-2012), as have some of the other been, thanks jonathanphanle. I think jonathanphanle may not be back to post again as he sounded from his posts like he solved his issue, so to anyone else still reading / posting - - - - Using the findanyfile app referenced in this post, which I downloaded, since I'd not run Seagates package to load diagnostics and such I didnt' have any 'seagate" files on my Mac.....but I ran that app (can downloa at http://apps.tempel.org/FindAnyFile/) and there are a few Seagate apps on the hardrive itself.....should one delete those to get the thing to stop nodding off in the middle of backups and the annoying won't mount problem?? (I've got a MBP with OSX 10.6.8 using the 2T FlexGo for Mac via firewire 800). Lot of great work done by users but so far I've seen boo from Seagate......

I have a 4 TB GoFlex with the FW/USB 2 base and a MacBookPro8,2. I had a lot of problems when I used the FW800 interface with the drive stalling after a few minutes and taking the finder with it.
When I used the USB2 connection, things seemed to work as expected.
I have the 1.12 version of the seagate goflex software installed.
Is it slower than FW? Yes. Does it work? Is does for me.

I have 3 Seagate drives on my Snow Leapoard Mac. (two 2TB and one 4TB)
I had all kinds of trouble with the USB3 drive (my second unit) UNTIL I did 2 things:
1) Replaced the USB3 base with a Firewire 800 base.
2) Most importantly: Use NO Seagate software drivers.
When the Seagate drivers were installed for the second drive (the stuff that controls the little lights to show capacity, etc), then BOTH of my drives started acting up, and the Mac would lock up until I unplugged the drives. I usd the Fire800 interface with an adapter to Firewire 400 initially, but no I use it directly to a Fire800 connector on my Mac.
Maybe the USB3 connector/base would work, but since it provides no advantage, I haven't done that experiment.
So once again: DISABLE all Seagate software drivers. Even the up-to date ones failed.
Hope this helps.
