I backed up a 12GB dvd home movie from my desktop PC (Win XP) to the Free Agent Go-Flex external hard drive (STAA500100). I can open and play the video (.avi) from the ext. drive on another desktop PC (also XP), but cannot get the movie to play on a newer laptop PC (Win 7). The file (and initial frame) appears on the ext. drive screen on the new laptop, and begins to open in Win Media Player when I click it, but I quickly get the message that Player cannot play the file. The Player does support '.avi', so the problem may be the codec that was used to compress the movie file. Anybody know how I can fix this?

Usually there are two ways that can help around this issue, either re-encode the movie by using a different program to create the file, or try using a different movie player to view it.
