Okay, so I bought a FreeAgent GoFlex Desk External Drive yesterday to use to switch everything over from one Mac to another. I plugged it in, I was NOT promted with Time Machine, and figured I would just drag and drop (I'm a newbie, don't judge). I got about halfway through my files when I accidentally pulled the cable out from the external hard drive. Now, I'm not an idiot, I knew I was screwed from that moment. I plugged it back in and everything was gone, even the files that you can see on the device when you open it for the first time (the stuff that comes with it) was gone. So this time when I connected it I was promted by Time Machine. I decided to try that and then had to stop because I had to shut off my computer and it was taking longer than I expected. So this morning I decided I would just erase everything on it and start over. I used these instructions to reformat: (http://seagate.custkb.com/seagate/crm/selfservice/
SO if anyone could please explain to me what the heck I did wrong and help me fix it so I don't have to deal with this issue anymore.
If it helps I'm using a MacBook Pro running Version 10.5.8.
Someone please help!

What do you mean it showed 61 GB taken up? Where did you see that?
Can you put files onto it now? Is it mounted?
