Will dropped connection of GoFlex drive on a Mac damage my TimeMachine backup?

I bought a GoFlex Desk drive from Costco many months ago and use it as my TimeMachine backup on a MacBook Pro running OS 10.7.  (Lion)  As many others have already noted, this drive puts itself to sleep which then causes it to be ejected and you get this warning about it not being ejected properly.  Seagate support says the fix is to install the Seagate utility that is supposed to disable the automatic sleep, which I have done and which does not work as others have already said.  Check out the lengthy discussion and multiple complaints in this thread:

Dropped connection

(Seagate says it is a problem with Apple's power management.  Apple users say that is a classic passing the buck answer.  Others have less kind things to say.)

I can live with the annoying messages, irritating as they are. (It is like a constant reminder: do not buy a Seagate drive ever again!)  My question is, will this eventually cause a problem with my TimeMachine backup?
