I have a goflex desk 2tb external harddrive.
The silly thing pops up the "autoplay" dialog box in Win7Ultijmate every 5 minutes or so, which is pretty annoying.
Any solutions?

Try this, please:
1) Open Computer.
2) Highlight the GoFlex drive with one click.
3) On the top bar of the Computer window, you should see: AutoPlay. Click on it.
4) The AutoPlay window should appear. Click on View more AutoPlay options in Control Panel
5) Then modify the settings as you like and then choose Save. I suggest Take No Action.

Ok, I can sorta see that as fixing the symptom, but why does it do that at all? I've got a ton of external drives and I've never had any of them continually pop up that dialog box. that just seems wrong.

I think it may be that the drive is going to sleep and then waking up.
Here are a few other things to try:

Sorry, for re-opening this thread, but I have the same issue.
The problem is, that the drive wakes up in about minute after going to sleep and in the process shuts down for a second and after that boots up, which brings up the Autoplay window..
The thing is, I want the drive to go to sleep and it should only wake up, when I'm accessing it and it should never shut down in the process.
I never had this issue with any of the older seagate HDDs.

nofing,
You didn't mention whether you've tried the steps I laid out in my other two posts in this thread. Please confirm.

Well, I use the "allow computer to turn off this device to save power" in the Seagate Dashboard at the moment, but the thing is, that I'd like my computer to turn the HDD off, since there is no power button, which would let me do this manually (without unplugging it). I would like the drive to power down after 10 or 15 minutes and only power up again, when I try to access it, which is exactly how it works with other drives.
Edit: The powering down works just fine in Mac OSX

Yes, I understand what you're saying - you want it to sleep at the right time and stay asleep unless you've awakened it.
I'm afraid I'm not sure about any other things to try; maybe contact Customer Service directly whether by phone, email, or chat?
If they give you a good troubleshooting method, I'd appreciate it if you could post it here so as to help the rest of us.

Ok, this took a while... After some back and forth I've sent my HDD in and I can confirm that this is a hardware issue.
So, if anyone else has the problem of the HDD coming back from power saver mode, less then a minute after it started, then you should contact support or get it exchanged from the retailer you bought it.
