I have a 4TB Goflex desk for mac with thunderbolt adapter. When I got it a couple a months ago, I installed the thunderbolt driver that came on the USB stick with the adapter and the drive has been solid.
I installed 10.8 yesterday and everything seemed to be okay, but my mac crashed this morning and out of fastidiousness I ran disk utility not just on the partitions (there are three), but the drive itself. The partitions were fine, but when I ran it on the drive, I got the following:
"Error: Partition map repair failed while adjusting structures to fit current whole disk size."
Everything seems okay. I have two known-good backups of the data, so I am not worried about that. What I am worried about is that there is some problem that is going to file corruption or something down the road.
Any thoughts?

I have the same issue as well. I am currently copying the data off the drive and am going to repartition the drive. Running the Seagate utility in Mountain Lion reveals no problem with the drive but it still causes me concern. No adapters in use and am running it via firewire on a 2010 imac.

I'm seeing this exact same issue on a brand new 3TB GoFlex Desk that I just partitioned.

i'm getting the same error message also on my 3TB Seagate drive.

I am also having an issue that is somewhat similar with 10.8 and a 3 TB drive. My thunderbolt ran flawlessly for almost 4 days and then all of a sudden it dropped and gave and error message that the drive was not initialized. I can remove the drive an put it in a USB 3 adapter and it runs flawlessly. I have installed the latest driver for the 3 and 4 TB drives but nothing.
Hopefully there is a fix soon.

Also having the same issues on 10.8. Currently connected through FireWire. Works fine on Windows AFAIK.

I'm having this problem, but my drive doesn't have Firewire or Thunderbolt. I'm getting this error on USB

I have a laptop with Lion which is able to repair it. It is doing so now, but I can't confirm if it has fixed my problems. I was experiencing problem where the drive was read-only. Here's the thread I documented it on

Update: this has fixed all of my issues, so the problem is definitely with ML. I recommend if you have access to Lion or other OSX that you run a Disk Repair on your drives
