"no back up plans found to reactivate"

I have a new laptop and want to transfer my backed up pictures, etc. from my goflex.  When I first plugged in the goflex it didn't prompt me to install the seagate dashboard, it only allowed me to open and view the folder.  The folder didn't have any pictures, so I installed the dashboard from this folder and launched the instant backup.  from here I could see the 100 gb of data was still on the goflex so I googled and found the way to transfer from the goflex to my new laptop.  I launched the instant backup clicked the "actions" tab, clicked reactivate backup, but here is my problem.  I got the message "no backup plans found to reactivate".

Any suggestions?

Re: "no back up plans found to reactivate"

This is driving me nuts, I plug the goflex into my old computer and autoplay pops up and I can view all my pictures.  I plug it into my new laptop and no pictures are present when I search through the goflex folder.  Yet when I launch the seagate dashboard, it shows the correct amount of data backed I just can't view it.  Why?

I have had exactly the same problem - The Memeo Instant Backup seems to not be able to 'see' my data. I would really appreciate help from somebody. I've contacted Memeo so I'll update you if I hear anything.

[ Edited ]

I am having a very similar issue.  I've been using the Seagate GoFlex / Memeo system to backup my hard drive on my new PC since I bought it a month ago.  The new PC died yesterday and is heading back to Lenovo for warranty repair.  I've installed the Seagate Dashboard and Memeo on my personal laptop and want to restore my work files onto it while waiting for the work PC to be repaired.

I've read the Memeo instructions that say to hit the Restore button and not the Backup button.  Tried that - no backup found.  Read here that I need to go to "actions" then "reactivate backup", but again - no backup found.  I'm not even given an option to "browse for a backup file".

This is extremely frustrating.  Any advise would be appreciated.

Same problem here. Physical fail of HDD, bought new, installed OS and Memeo, no restore options yet there is close to 100GB of files with the extensions changed just waiting for me......I bought this product expressly in case of drive failure.  I really do not want to go thru this file by file -- I don't have that many years left!

Re: "no back up plans found to reactivate"

With Memeo, when you back up your files and then go to a new computer to restore, it WILL be more of a manual process. It won't allow you to reactivate the old backup from the old computer.

You will need to manually browse the files to restore them.

To get to the backed up files:

1) Open Computer/My Computer and open the Seagate drive.

2) Locate the backup file. Usually it is your name or your computer followed by "_backup"

3) Next you will have a dated folder that indicates the date the backup was first started. Go into that folder.

4) You will then have a Memeo folder to go into.

5) Another dated folder just like the one you saw in step 3.

6) Your C folder is next.

7) If you backed up from XP, you will then go into a Documents and Settings folder.

If you backed up from Vista or 7, you will then go into a Users folder.

8) Choose the folder with your user name.

9) This is where you're going to start seeing some of your files. Simply browse to the different folders, such as My Documents, and copy/paste the files onto your new system.

It isn't the most convenient way, I agree. However, that is the way that the software is setup.

If you setup the software on your new computer and started a new backup, it will create a separate folder for the second computer so it will NOT overwrite the data from your old computer.

The restore function built into the program is intended for restoring files directly back onto the system it was originally backed up from.

Hope this helps you guys.

To all users: If your data is stored ONLY on an external hard drive, then it is NOT a backup. A BACKUP is having the data stored in TWO or MORE locations. If it is only in ONE location, you don't have a backup at all. If the data is important to you, then have it stored in multiple locations to prevent data loss.

Re: "no back up plans found to reactivate"

So "Restore" is only valid following a logical failure on the original HDD, and the only folder needed for anything OTHER than a logical faiilure of the HDD is "User" ....  got it. ___________  Seems like that was way easier than the 27 pages of text I waded thru to get absolutely nowhere.
