Hi @all,
1) is it possible to use the external drive as backup for the time machine?
before in my last config, i used the external drive connected to my time capsule.
when i use the seagate drive for booth, the backup will fill up my drive so that i can't store other things.
2) when i create a share of my pictures, it shows only the picture direct in this folder. but all my pictures are sortet in subfolders. what must i do that all files, include the subfolders, are show. i can't share any folder single, so i must do it again when the next folder is createt and so on.
i use in my network an ipad, iphone, mbp, imac and 2 windows laptops. all connected with an gigabit switch.
Solved! Go to Solution.

1) Do you mean you want to use your GoFlex Home with Time Machine?

thx for your answer....
yes, but not the "internal drive" of the gfh, i want to use the external drive connected at the usb port!
i know your link, but this is not my solution. this is only for the "internal drive", not the ext.
tm runs well with the "internal drive", but i need it to connect to the external.
and what is with the point 2) of my question?
no solution for this? it's standard in windows and mac, when you made a share... all files inside the share, include folders, will be accessable over the share. why not in gfh? made i something wrong?

no really help here, like i see on other threads with no (usable) reponse :-(
So i must say, sorry amazon all seagate goes return to you. that was for testing and later using 1x 2TB GFH, 1x 3TB Desk USB, 1x FreeAgent GoFlex Kabel FW800, 1x FreeAgent GoFlex Net, 1x GoFlex Desktopadapter FW800, 1x 1TB FreeAgent GoFlex
with this problems and the lower speed i don't want to spend more than 500€ (over 730$) for hardware that sucks and i got no support.
so i ordert now an synology DS211+ with 2x3TB harddrive for only 10% more cost, but 5 to 8 times faster and no problems and a helpfull forum.
cheers

Did you ever contact Tech Support? That's where you get support.
This is an online community where many of the responses come from other users, such as yourself. The forum is not a replacement for Customer Service. Seagate representative do from time to time come to lend a hand answering posts but not necessarily on a continual or frequent basis. If you have immediate needs, your best bet is to contact Customer Service directly. Sorry to hear you plan to return your drives based on a misconception about where one can get support from Seagate.

There is no tech support. That page has been removed. The only help you get is what you can derive from the generosity of folks on this site..

In any case, the answer to the questions were no and share creation is not recursive.
Cheers,

You can share a folder, and any subfolders will automatically be shared.
So the answer is to put your pictures in a folder, like "My Pictures" and then sort them into folders that are contained in the My Pictures folder.
Then all you have to do is share My Pictures folder. Any new folder you create inside My Pictures is automatically part of the shared list of folders.

I share a folder, and if any subfolders exist, they are shared automatically. And new folders created under the shared folder are also shared.
It's seems logical enough, and it works.
