Android - GoFlex Access - Unsupported video format - error

My Android phone and tablet will play .avi files just fine, but when I try to access .avi from the GoFlex Access Android App, getting error message "Unsupported Video Format"

Is there a solution to this?

Re: Android - GoFlex Access - Unsupported video format - error

I am having same problem, even with MP4, WMV, and several others that I have tried. The only file type that I can get to play is .FLV. My children have IPods and I don't want three hundred different file types converted of the same movie just because of Seagate. All my devices support my settings of MP4 files. When I load the files directly to the phone it works perfect, but when trying to access exact same file through the GoFlex App, it says unsupported video format. I tried loading other video players, as suggested in other forums but nothing is working. I am using a Galaxy 2 with Android 2.3.6. Any help?

Install the Hipserv App

Install MX Player

The Hipserv App gives you the option of selecting a player, make MX Player the default for the Hipserv App.

The Seagate Goflex Acess app is basically a rebranded Hipserv app, but Seagate hasn't updated their version.

Although apart from the novelty value, why would you bother with this? On your local LAN there are easier ways to stream movies from the GFH to a portable device without having to log in. And over the internet the upload speed from the GFH is probably too slow for movies to be watchable.
