Hi, using these instructions I was able to change the name of my GoFlex servers, but now other things are messed up and I want to change it back. How do I change the name back to the way it was? I want it back to factory settings. Thanks.

I am having similar issues after doing this. Namely my networked printer is no longer networked to my Mac. Now when I go into System Preferences and Printer seagategroup shows up under the windows category, but nothing is in the window where goflex_home should be. Help please!

No, unless I'm told otherwise, there is no way to change it back. There is not way to change it to another name either.
Wait a minute, you might be able to change it, reset the drive, use another device name when registering it with seagateshare and then use the re-naming app, and it should change the name to the registered device name.

Since yo changed the name of the network device, the device can no longer be found in its path //device/path/path...
Just make the changes....

For me, it worked after I had set "Configure router via UPNP" to "Yes" (under "UPNP Router Configuration), and "Enable FTP access to your local LAN" and "Enable FTP access to the Internet" both to "Yes" (under Network Services). Not sure which one did the trick though...
Now of course I didn't read full instructions before first attempt (...), so I was expecting a dialogue where I could set the name. Now I know this tool will just copy the name as set as "GoFlex Home Name" under "Remote Access".
Now I have two NAS in one network, and I can access both from "Network", copy files from one to another, and my media player will see both by their new name as well. I didn't do any of the host-file changes as other posts here suggest. Okay, the dasboard won't work on both (but since I have them both on a fixed IP address, I can just access them from the browser by their IP), and only one will have the X-Y-Z drives mapped automatically. But I can just map any letter to the folders on the network drives, so who cares. I don't understand why we're talking here about "conflicts" when havng two GoFlex Home's in one network; you really don't need the dashboard to access the drives...
Thanks Roby!

I just wanted to get on here and say thank you! I've been trying to change the device name in order directly replace an old linksys slug that died, and of course that was impossible without changing the device name.
Now if I could figure out how to create a new share at the root of the device it'd be perfect...

Hi guys,
As I have 2 Goflex Home product, I tried to change the Netbios name of one of them by following the instructions in the above posts :
- I had set "Configure router via UPNP" to "Yes" (under "UPNP Router Configuration)
- I set FTP access to your local LAN" and "Enable FTP access to the Internet" to "Yes
I use the "hipserv" page to change the Netbios name but, nothing happened after rebooting the device ... :-(
Can someone help me ?
Thanks
Greetings
Fab
