When I try to delete a user account (guest) on my Goflex home through the admin web page > Preferences (http://goflex_home/#view=3)
it gives me the warning
Are you sure you want to delete user guest?
WARNING: This will delete guest's private content.
User guest has no private content (there are no files in that user's Personal and Backup folders and never have been), but when I click OK it comes back with
Delete failed
Unable to delete user
That's it! no explanation or error code, thanks for playing, you lose, bye.
I am a Seagate Share Pro user (signed up for the 30 day free trial) so I can add more users, but I'm waiting to see what happens to the new, extra accounts when the 30 days is up.
I'd still like to be able to delete, or at least rename existing accounts. Maybe being unable to delete or rename accounts is Seagate's way of encouraging you to upgrade to Pro?

Try adding the user back, and see what happens. Open up the user account.
See what happens, log out, login as admin, and delete account. Let me know what hapens.

Thanks for the reply djcalcutt, but I'm not sure what you mean.
I can't add the user back, because I can't delete the user in the first place. If I try to add another user with the same name (is that what you meant?) it says there is already a user with that name.
I have opened the user account and the account is fine. I have tried deleting other accounts with the same result.
I have created a new account and tried to delete it straight away. Same result.
I have tried other browsers, including plain vanilla IE9. Same result
I have tried it with the account password in the edit account fields and without. Same result.
I am logged in as admin to delete the acccount. An account without admin privileges does not have the option to delete or edit users.
Are you able to delete accounts through the web interface?

Just a second, and I'll try.

Yes, works well for me. Did you accidentally make it an adminitrator account? My be you cannot delete them?
Hmm.. don;t know what to say.
Thou, I wander, it you put the GoFlex Home on a GoFle Desk, and manuallt delete the 'directories'.
try chaging the users crdeitaial, from user to admin and back... something is denying it.
Just keep trying stuff. I'd make sure that directories are empty too...
Actually one time i delete a user, and them restore it, and all the files where still there... lol. it was even a drive a returned to a store!

Make sure you have at least one other Admin account and then try to delete this account once again. If you are still not successful, try to access the data or add new data to this account, in the Personal share for the guest account.
Are you able to delete other accounts on your GoFlex Home or is this isolated to the Guest account only?

Thanks for trying to help but I have tried to delete this account and other accounts many times trying different things.
I have tried different account settings, like giving the account access to the family folder and not. As an admin account and not. With the account password and without. Resettting the account also no go.
I have checked Windows credential manager has no stored credentials for that account or other accounts I have tried to delete.
As I said I have created a new account and tried deleting that account without success.
The accounts work in every usual way, I can add and delete files to the folders, log in through seagate share etc.
I just can't delete them.
It is not a huge issue, but it is an irritation that it doesn't work and I don't know why. I was just curious whether other users were having the same issue.
Are you a Seagate Pro user?
Maybe upgrading to Seagate Pro broke it? I can't remember now if I first tried deleting before or after the upgrade.

E-mail support@axentra.com with access credentials to your GoFlex Home. It's not a "trick" to get premium to upgrade, it's probably just some odd issue with your device, we'll find it and fix it.
Cheers,
Roby!

Thanks Robyb,
I am not handing out access credentials to people I don't know, so let's pretend it's fixed and move on.
I raised it on this forum hoping that someone else had the same issue and knew how to fix it.

That's your choice. Just fix it the "hard" way instead. http://support.goflexhome.hipserv.com/en/reflash/i
Cheers,
Roby!
