I have a 2tb goflex network drive connected to my computer via my router. I'm in the process of backing up everything to a cloud storage solution for redundancy /paranoia reasons. The cloud backup doesn't see the network drive when itlooks at my computer. Can I conect the drive to my computer by USB while it is still connected via network? Or will that cause a rip in the space-time continuum, or maybe a logical error with the computer? I thought I'd check with the smart people before I blew us all up.

Hey supersteve, are you talking about a Goflex Home?
You can't connect the GFH by USB; it only connects by ethernet.
You can remove the drive from the GFH base and connect it by USB if you have a suitable adapter, but then it won't be connected to the network.
The cloud backup software doesn't recognize mapped/mounted network drives? Can you use FTP? or Backup Box ?

It's a goflex home. It has a usb port in the base. What is that for if not for connecting?

It is only for attaching external storage devices.
