I bought a GoFlex Home 2TB NAS a couple months ago and started filling it with Gigabytes of home videos plus my studio music archives. In the last week, I noticed that all the files are missing. The Public, Shared, and Backup folders are there, but no files appear in them. However, the space for the files is still occupied. The drive has been accessed mostly by a PC, though I did set up a Mac in the house to access the drive too. I have rebooted my machine and power-cycled the drive to no avail.
As one might expect, I am freaked out about losing a bunch of my data and time. I have seen several other forum posts citing similar behavior. I can't imagine that Seagate hasn't addressed such a serious issue with data integrity, so please point me toward whichever post/FAQ that has the solution.
Thank you in advance,

I have been experiencing the same issue for the last week and trying to get my data copied off drive. I can see all the space is used on drive however I can not see data and my map drives all show as about 20 MB free out of 411 MB. I assume this is the disk used by base of the goflex_home and I can't see the data on the 3 TB drive.
To get my data to reappear under my name I have to create a new user and delete that user...sometimes a couple times.. but for some reason creating or deleting a dummy user other than mine will make my data show back up under my user.
As soon as drive reboots or it just decides it doesnt want me to see data anymore I am back to see 411 MB drive under my name and have to add/delete a user again.
Hopefully there is a fix for this issue!

Thanks to the tip from ijtsmith I created a dummy user and deleted it, and then my files magically showed up again. Phew!
BUT this is clearly not correct behavior. Please advise how to avoid this situation in the future.
FYI, someone from Axentra (the company that makes HipServ, which I believe is the software behind the GoFlex products) responded to a different thread citing this same issue. I emailed and got the response below.
Can you provide us your GoFlex Home name, an admin username and password for us to investigate? Also, can you specifically mention a file that you uploaded and where you uploaded it, which is now invisible? How did you upload the file(s)?

Loggging in to the network drive allows access to the 'person' 'shared' 'backup' and 'external' Go Flex subdrirectories.
Using the drive as USB direct, you can only see the 'shared' files.
I thought I origiannly lost files after connecting the GoFlex Home unit to the Go Flex Daeck base, using USB.
Just a note to watch for.

Please try to look at the drive with a USB controller as the drive is formatted NTFS so it'll work in Windows. You can then browse the root of the drive. If the files aren't on the root of the drive, the data could have become corrupt and you should run Seagate File Recovery or some other data recovery software.

When you say you "accidentally" deleted a User, how did that happen. When you try to delete a user you usually get a confirmation warning;
Are you sure you want to delete user username?
WARNING: This will delete username's private content.
If you went ahead and clicked OK then the users private folders have been deleted. To recover those files you'll need to connect the drive with a USB adapter and run recovery software like (http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk).
You should stop using the drive, because if the space on the drive where those files are gets overwritten by new data then there is no way to recover them.
By the way, just to correct an error in an earlier post, the drive root will only show the contents of the Public Folder but all the private content is accessible in the .users folder

i was trying to delete user, i didnt thought that i will erase it all;
when i was clicked the screen was frost (without a warning) and when i returned user name was not available;
i tried to add it again and it said "user exists" already,
then i push the reset button that on the rear side;
and everything is gone;
i'm not using the device now and i will by a "sata to usb" cable to run a recovery software;
which one do you offer "recuva" or "testdisk"...
