Ok, I'm giving it another shot, I'd like to know how (If possible) to reset my Go Flex Home 1TB without losing all the saved pics, backups...ect.. I've been unsucssefull locating my GFH for the last year now. I had to update my router along with our two computers after a surge protector failed to protect. Being I lost the passwords to everything cause they were stored on the computers, I had to set up a new network on new router. Thats why I'd like to reset the drive without losing my backups, I'm hoping this will somehow solve why I can't locate this drive for the life of me using Win7HP. I've put a lot of time and even more uneeded stress into this.... Its gotten to a point where the little orange blinking light mocks me.... As I said in my review of this POS.....Sure it starts off green....But then gives me a big &$%@ @*# and turns to the blinking orange. If anyone can please help me, I'll forever be indebted to you. I'll even name my next child after you.... lol If you need any other information I'll be happy to give it.
I set up the GFH using Vista, I was able to add it to the network. Renamed it, added password.
Power Failure Lost our computers and Router
Replaced computers & Router r
Went from Vista to Win 7 Home Prem,
Also use Norton.
Hope this helps. Thanks for your time,
To everyone else out experiencing similar issues.....I feel your pain! I wish the best of luck to you repairing yours, or at least seeking vengence which ever way you choose.lol

I figured I'd add my latest attempt,
I found the bellow information through another topic on here.
Made sure my GFH and router are connected bye an Ethernet wire,
Then to make sure my zip disk was erased
I formated the zip disk, fat32, default allocation
after it was done, I downloaded the firmware saving it to the zip disk,
then I extracting files.....(Is this what they mean down to the root??
Next I followed the directions
Installed the zip disk to GFH USB port
Turned off power,
Removed from docking station
Turned power back on and held reset button for aprox 5-7sec
It did flash Green then flash white, I let go of the reset button
but instantly turns to a solid orange with a blinking white light
Does not turn to steady green. What am I doing wrong........
Why can't I get this thing running again...
Heres the directions I followed,
These instructions will reflash your GoFlex Home to factory, requiring you to re-configure the device.
Steps:
Download the 2.7.1 firmware ZIP file containing the GoFlex Home firmware.
Format a USB key with FAT32
Extract the Zipped files to the USB key at the root level. No other files should exist on the USB key.
Gracefully remove the USB key from the PC and insert into the GoFlex Home's USB connector.
Power off your GoFlex Home, ensure power cord and Ethernet are still connected.
Remove the hard disk from the GoFlex Home.
With your GoFlex Home powered off, press the Power button and hold the Reset pin. The green light will blink immediately, followed by the white light. Release the reset pin and wait for the device to complete booting and obtains a steady green light (approximately 3-4 minutes)
Your device should now be reflashed, remove the USB key and continue with Setup
To recover your data, simply re-create the previous user accounts.

Close but not quite.
Download the 2.7.2 firmware zip file to your PC.
Then extract it to the the USB flash drive
The only files that should be on the USB are the extracted files
otherwise everything else is right

Well I can say I've got use of the Go Flex Now, But I'm not seeing any of the backups or files I saved through Norton, Vista, Nor any of the programs like CS5. No where to be found. Let me take a wild guess, what I thought would just erase the admin settings actully erases the complete drive, in other words I can no longer access all the info I had prior to Flashing this thing. If this is indeed the case. This #%(U(_T thing better grow wings.....quickly!!
Am I not seeing any of the files because I used MEMO or its a different user name pword so it gives me a fresh partition or something like that. Is the info still on the drive.....Please tell me yes....

No,reflashing the firmware doesn't affect the drive, but to access the files associated with the old user you will need to recreate the user account exactly.
All the info from before should still be on the drive. Just set up the same username as before. Another forum member said they had to reboot the GFH a couple of times before the old folders showed up.

Kenji, my apologies for not expressing my fullest gratitude earlier this morning, I'm very thankful you replied, your the sole reason for me being able to fix this black box from he11..... +1 for you my friend. I think you even helped me a couple of months ago, during my last failed attempt. Only I didn't follow up with you, trying to figure out what I was doing wrong.
I was just overwhelmed at that point , so I had to walk away from it before it grew wings.
So even though I'm unable to access prior info, The fact that its no longer an expensive paper weight makes it worth it.....Not to mention I'm no longer tormented bye the very sight of it. ...lol
Hopefully theirs a hack out their somewhere or a password cracker or something.
You did it my friend!!
Thanks for your help, and in case I wasn't clear.......
AGAIN THANK YOU!!!!!!!
