From the dashboard, the device is detected as "GoFlex Home (Remote Access)". When I try to load the preferences, I am prompted for my device name, my user name, and my password.
I then get the message "Signing in. Please wait."
The connection then times out every time.
I'm having huge problems with this device. It seemed to work like a charm for a while, and now it's essentially a brick. Well, a brick with a ton of irreplaceable files on it.
I want to reflash the firmware and make all the appropriate updates, but right now, I want to use the darn thing for target practice.

Awesome. 0 replies. What's the deal here? Is this product such a big pile of crud that Seagate has stopped responding to complaints altogether?
Never buying Seagate again. Not ever. You guys used to be the only ones I trusted for my backups. Never again. You dropped the ball, and you are not living up to it.
Fix your stupid product.

Not sure this is the same problem,
Just like you, Dashboard shows Go_Flex Remote Access and I can't chage this. I can get to Preferences and turned Remot Access off and on but not matter, Dashboard still show as 'Remote Access'
Was working fine until yesterday ... after some Win Updates (arrrrrrgh!)

Right click on Dash board icon near task bar and click on "See ignored devices". This had solved my problems.
