Re: GoFlex Home Firmware release!

There was a problem with the transmission after updating firmware 2.6
Decided to go back to firmware 2.5.3.
1) How do I install the firmware can be found here: GoFlex Home: Factory Reset Procedure And Firmware Files
2) goflex home firmware 2.5.3 is here: http://support.seagate.hipserv.com/files/goflex_2_5_3_firmware.zip

P.S.   I think the firmware 2.6 is missing a file /etc/init.d/transmission.init, which starts the daemon transmission. (ATTACHMENTS contents oroginal file transmission.init   from firmware 2.5.3     . Remove extension .TXT)

Re: GoFlex Home Firmware release!

I managed to get transmission installed on the 2.6 firmware.  Takes some linux know how, but it lets you keep the firmware update and not have to reset things.

Just followed these instructions on the OpenStora forums.  Did have to register for the forums to get their transmission distribution, but it worked like a charm.  To ssh in I used the first couple steps on this blog post.  (unfortunately most of the instructions got invalidated by the 2.6 upgrade, but it was the only place I looked to tell me what user / location to ssh in to).

Re: GoFlex Home Firmware release!

How do you tell which firmware version you currently have? I have tried to use the update procedure, but it says that my software is up to date.

Re: GoFlex Home Firmware release!

[ Edited ]

At least one way to check your GoFlex Home's firmware version is to log in to the web interface, then in the very bottom left corner you'll see a link that says "About GoFlex Home".

Clicking it shows you the firmware version ("Software Version"), product key and GoFlex Home Name.

My GFH was running the 2.6.2 firmware when I bought it in Jan 2012, and I did not install any Seagate software.  This might be different if you're running a different firmware, I can't say.

Re: GoFlex Home Firmware release!

My Seagate says, 2.6:2.0.0.382:1.2.340

Assuming it mean 2.6.0 and another 2.0.0.382 and the other 1.2.340

So i shecked with update and it says i'm uptodate.

Re: GoFlex Home Firmware release!

If it helps, I'll elaborate.

2.6 is the firmware version

2.0.0.382 is our firmware build version

1.2.340 is the flash client version

Cheers,

Roby!

Re: GoFlex Home Firmware release!

Hi all, Im new to these drives having mine (GoFlex home) for just a week. I loaded allmy files/movies/photos on the device and I could see everything on my various DLNA devices (Samsung telly, PS3 etc). Now sometime over the few days it asked me to install the new firmware - I am sure I did this without issue (maybe not) but now I can only see one folder (There should be 4) and then opening that folder I can only see 8 files (there should be 40). This is when I open it through the DLNA device (PS3 as an examlpe) - when going through Seagateshare I can see everything. Is this a symtom of what you are talking about here - this transmission thing and should I re-install the latest firmware or revert back? Please help - It was great for all of a day having everything available through my house!! Cheers
