GoFlex Home / Modem IP Address Question

If I type the IP address of my home modem (not the wireless router or NAS address) into a web browser, it takes me to the login page for the NAS. This happens even if the NAS is disconnected. It happens outside my home network as well. Is this supposed to be set up like this?

Re: GoFlex Home / Modem IP Address Question

If you mean your external IP address, then yes.

f you have allowed remote access in preferences then the default is that any external requests  coming to your router (through your modem) on port 80 (http port) are routed to your Goflex Home port 80 which is the seagate share web page.

Re: GoFlex Home / Modem IP Address Question

Yeah, the external IP. Ok, i buy that reasoning. Thanks for the help. But if I disable remote (and delete browser history, cache, and cookies), it still goes to the seagateshare page.

Re: GoFlex Home / Modem IP Address Question

Are you trying that on your home wifi? Your router will resolve that IP address as it is not an external request.

Try connecting through 3G - with remote access turned off it won't connect

Re: GoFlex Home / Modem IP Address Question

I had been using my phone to test it "remotely" via 3G (phone doesnt have wifi), and even if I disable remote access, the external IP still takes me to a seagate login page (albeit without the specific name of my NAS on it, just a generic login page). Only if I unplug the ethernet cable will it not bring up the login page on my phone.

Well now I have remote access enabled but can't get the seagate login page at all, so the universe is in balance.

Update: I rebooted my router and all good again
