Re: GoFlex Home Troubleshooter now live!

i just tried this and of absolutely of no use, just suggests to check leads or run manually - i want remote access via iphone and ipad using the app - i did not buy it to run manually!!!

i'm running Windows 7 Premium, using a GoFlex 3TB NAS which is plugged direct into a 4 month old BT (British Telecom) WiFi infinity home router.

keeps dropping sporadically off the network, more prone to do so during heavy use like upload/downloading  Video's.

i'm fairly computer/network experienced, so i gave it a fixed IP outside of DHCP server range to no effect. So to eliminate the Router having issues, i disconnected and reconnected the CAT5e patch cable, althought the network appropriat lights flash the only way to get it back on line is a complete power cycle off/on.

this indicates to me the problem is the base shoe software plate locking up, likely due to heat, the unit is located in a cool well ventilated location in my dinning room, just for easy access to power off, which is at least once a day.

when it works it's brilliant, but frustrating with the lockups, that prevents me accessing it remotely. I'm on holiday next week in Mexico, can hardly pop back to the K to perform a restart, and why should it be needed?

any advice received with thanks, given how much is now on the drive and time taken i'm not keen to have to delete the hard drive and send it back.

Re: GoFlex Home Troubleshooter now live!

I have the same problem.  It worked perfect for the first couple of days.  Backed up two PC's after letting them run overnight.  Next day I tried copying some large video files (4 to 5 Gigs) and it quits about half way through saying "can't find drive path".  All the lights are green on the drive but none of my computers can find the drive.  After I power off and power on the drive it works for a while until I again try a large file.

I'm now transferring all the files off the drive and back to their original locations in preparation of returning the drive if the problem continues.

I've been having the same issue with lockups.  I believe that it may be heat-related as the drive does not seem to idle down when not in use.  The constant spin state with no fans or visible heat sinks could cause the problem once a high read/write demand is placed on the device.  I'm not sure if this is a disk or dock issue and am waiting for an answer in this thread.  Perhaps there is a firmware update that could resolve the issue.

to the Andre Salsa question:

Try to unmount that directory, using

umount /tmp/minidlna

command after stopping the daemon

Then, rebuild database.
