GoFlex Home - storage unit not connected

I'm trying to setup the Dashboard following a new installation of GoFlex Home on a Windows XP Home SP3 system.  Everything seems to be connected OK as far as I can tell.  The LED at the base of the unit is green.  The GoFlex device is connected via Ethernet and shows as alive on my hub.  But the 2 TB drive shows as not connected  to the GoFlex device in Dashboard.  I don't see the drive in Device Manager or in Windows Explorer.  Any ideas?

Re: GoFlex Home - storage unit not connected

There should be two LED's....a solid green one indicating it's connected to the network and a solid white one that says the drive is connected and working OK.  If you're just seeing the green LED, I'd first check that the drive is secure in the base.  You should launch the Seagate Dashboard and see if that connects to the drive.  If it doesn't, and there's no white LED, then it might be defective.  I just went thru this same issue...ended up getting a new system that's working fine.

Re: GoFlex Home - storage unit not connected

I had the same problem as you. I think its because the hard drive is not properly connected to the unit. I pressed the hard drive a little hard so that a firm contact is made and it works. Don't press is too hard to break it.

Try not using the dashboard, but reather check the setting via the IP address, them log in, and preferences.
