I've got one more small problem I hope someone can help me with.
I have a desktop with XP Pro and a laptop with Windows 7.
When I installed my new Goflex Home to my router and the Seagate Dashboard software on the laptop the Goflex drive showed up under My Computer as "Network Places" and I can see and access Public, Personal, and Backup just like regular hard drives.
On the desktop, however, the new drive does not show up at all. I installed the Dashboard software and it made no difference.
Did I do something on the laptop that I haven't done on the desktop or does this work differently in XP?
Thanks.

It's probably a little different on XP and it helps if they are all on the same Workgroup.
In My Computer or My Network Places type \\goflex_home\ or \\yourGFH_IPaddress\ for example \\192.168.0.15\
It should ask for credentials and once you're connected you can map drives.
Alternatively use the Net Use command to map drives

To clarify my question:
on the laptop, running Windows 7, I show three drives under My Computer, X:, Y,: and Z:, for Public, Personal, and Backup.
On the laptop I can drag files directly to the drives and they will upload.
On the desktop, running XP, I show one Network Place (GOFLEX HOME, UPNP-AV) which, whenclicked, takes me directly to a browser window for Seagate Share. I can only upload using the Uploader which works sporadically and is slower than molasses when it does work.
I would like the drive letters to show in XP but am wondering if this is a difference between 7 and XP.
A quick update, one of the tips just said "simply open the Agent and select Explore my GoFlex Home folders." but I can't find anything called "the Agent" or a button called "Explore".

The workaround I figured out was to use ftp to transfer my files. Not happy that the drive doesn't just show up in My Computer, but this is OK.

To clarify your clarification, it seems you don't understand what the OP is asking.
I have the same problem. The command you mentioned does not prompt me for credentials. I recently renamed my GoFlex, and after that the drives disappeared. I can still add files via the webpage.
Anyone here have an answer to the original poster's (and my) question?

Well if I didn't understand what the OP was asking before, your post didn't make it any clearer. You "have the same problem" (Yeah, I think maybe you do)
On the other hand, I'm not the one having trouble mapping drives, which is what I believe the OP was trying to do.
I didn't mention any command, where are you getting that from? EDIT: oops, yes I did (NET USE), but forget I mentioned it because it takes less than 20 seconds to map drives through the GUI
And if you've given your NAS a different Netbios name then \\goflex_home\ is obviously not going to work for you.

The story so far;
heresolong: I want to map drives in XP
kenji57: This is how I map drives in XP.
heresolong: No I mean I want to map drives like X:, Y: Z: Never mind I'll use FTP
kenji57: This is how I map drives in XP. Heres a picture
weslindsey: You don't understand. I have the same problem as the OP. btw I renamed my GFH now it doesn't work like before
kenji57_?: Here's a picture of mapped drives. Is this what we're talking about?
kenji57_?: Here's a video of how I map drives in XP (attached to this post as a zipped file)
This works even with File and Print sharing unchecked in Network settings AND with File and Print sharing unchecked in Firewall exceptions AND with UPnP disabled in the router and unchecked in the firewall AND with the GFH having a different Workgroup name to the PC AND no entry for goflex_home in the PC hosts file. (I'm surprised that it works but it does)
There are other ways of getting the same result, but browsing the network to find the folders to map probably won't work with the settings above.
Also If you have given your GFH a different Netbios name then enter that name instead of goflex_home.
