What router do you have?

It seems a crazy setup to have to log in to your router configuration interface through the internet. How do you get the internet working in the first place?

If you need to access the internet to change your router settings , but you can't access the internet because your router settings are messed up, then you are screwed. That's why most routers that I know of have a local IP address like 192.168.0.1.

I don't see how the goflex home can change your public IP address. That is assigned by Verizon and usually only changes for example if you reboot your router with dynamic IP.

Try powering off the router and power back on or call Verizon support
