Help using secure ftp and Seagate Share Pro

I'm using the trial ver. of Seagate Share Pro and trying to get the sftp to work. I've got ftp working, but cannot find any documentation about sftp or Share Pro. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Re: Help using secure ftp and Seagate Share Pro

You can get support for Seagate Share Pro and SFTP through http://www.axentra.com/  :smileyhappy:

Re: Help using secure ftp and Seagate Share Pro

Wrong.    http://www.axentra.com/  doesn't provide any support for Seagate Share Pro.  In fact, their website just redirects back to here for support.

I can't find any support for Seagate Share Pro for Mac users at all.    I'm starting to think I was robbed of my $9.99.   I mainly bought Seagate Share Pro for my Seagate GoFlex Home in order to enable ftps access and to have unlimited users but, so far, there is no way I can find for a Mac user to enable ftps.   ftp works, but ftps does not.

I can't see anyway to enable or use *any* of the Seagate Share Pro features despite the fact that my GoFlex Home preferences say that I have Seagate Share Pro enabled and I've received e-mail the confirms I've purchased Seagate Share Pro and I'm registered for it.

Re: Help using secure ftp and Seagate Share Pro

I too purchased the "Pro" version specifically for the secure access and am unable to get it to work nor do I find any other documentation on it. C'mon Seagate folks what gives?

Re: Help using secure ftp and Seagate Share Pro

It's useless.  There's noone at home.   Better to use online Google search information and hack into your Seagate GoFlex home and enable ssh login, sftp access and a host of other cool features.   Turns out the Seagate GoFlex Home is running a variant of RedHat Linux in flash memory.  You can turn this thing into a pretty cool little linux server doing some useful things in addition to serving up the disk filesystems.

Re: Help using secure ftp and Seagate Share Pro

I tried to use FileZilla exactly as recommended in the Roby referenced article and the connection fails with the following error in the command window:

Status:    Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
Response:    220 (vsFTPd 2.0.7)
Command:    AUTH TLS
Response:    234 Proceed with negotiation.
Status:    Initializing TLS...
Error:    GnuTLS error -12: A TLS fatal alert has been received.
Error:    Could not connect to server

Normal FTP connections are successful, I have enable FTP via internet, and upgraded to Seagate Share pro.

Please help.

Re: Help using secure ftp and Seagate Share Pro

We recently found out that the latest version of FileZilla stopped supporting the current version of ssl cipher used on our ftp server.  Looking at their source control reveals they will be reverting this change in the next update.  Until then, locate and download a previous version of FileZilla.  I believe the offending version is 3.5.3, 3.5.2 works fine.

Cheers,

Roby!

Re: Help using secure ftp and Seagate Share Pro

Seagate, thanks for stealing my money!:smileymad: Please add support for accessing secure ftp on the goflex home when one has a Seagate Share Pro subscription. We who paid the money deserve the added support. Also add a link to the FileZilla 3.5.2 software. You Seagate support people are horocious with giving any kind of reasonable support. Please also give information about how to access the Goflex Home via ftps using the add network location in Windows 7 or on a Mac.
