When I launch the Seagate dashboard, I am not getting any network shares.
The software was installed ok, but when I click on "Load content" followed by "Open Windows Explorer", I get 2 explorer windows but no XYZ shares. Also, if I click on "Folder View" an error comes up reading "Error occurred whilst processing command (error code: WIN32_ERROR)."
I tried disabling my firewall, and actually saw the shares for a brief period but have not been able to reproduce this. Maybe I rebooted having disabled the firewall, I don't know. But that suggests that there is a firewall setting to be made in order to allow this to work.

I too have exactly the same problem. Loaded software ok but no shared drives in windows. Windows XP machine cabled to wireless router. I can log onto external drive via Seagate Share but Memeo Instant Backup cannot see the FlexHome to allow a backup.
I have successfully connected another machine which runs Vista and has a wireless connection.

I have managed to fix my issue and thought it might be useful to share info. The problem seems to be in the config of my lan connection for the cabled pc. Even though I could log into the GoFlex I couldn't manually map any of the drives. So I temporarily stuck a wireless dongle into the pc, loaded up the software and everything started working! No Win32 error on the folder view, shared drives visible in windows explorer and memeo instant is licensed and can see the Goflex.
First i tried setting a fixed IP address for the LAN connection to the modem. Then I also enabled all the protocols (File + print sharing, MS network client, Qos packet sched). I've since reverted to a dynamic IP address and DNS.
If you having problems with a cabled PC then I would recommend getting a cheap wireless dongle just to prove if there's a problem with the modem.

Thanks for the updates rosemj2. I managed to get the drive working by mapping to:
This is with my avg firewall set to "allow all". I tried with a laptop running XP Home with ZoneAlarm firewall, and ZA did actually pop up to say what it was blocking. So I added the drive's IP as a safe zone and all was fine for a few days.
And now, today, the drive doesn't want to know. Explorer lists it as a "Disconnected Network Drive" and when I click on that it asks for credentials. Kind of strange since for a few days it has happily taken my windows logon and been fine. (I deliberately set my windows password to be the same as the user account password on goflex). Now even typing the password in when prompted doesn't work.
I've tried both lan cable and wireless connections. And tried it with the firewall running and also turned off.
