After I posted in the how to get 2 goflex home drives on the same network thread, I thought it would be probably better to post with the actual issue as subject ... sorry if this is considered a double post ... even though getting the netbios name changed is the goal, the remote access problem is preventing me from doing that I believe.
Currently "Remote Access" is disabled on 2TB GoFlex Home drive ... I have tried to enable it via GoFlex Home - Preferences - but when trying to do so, an error is always returned after about 10 seconds. (see attached screen shot of error dialog box)
The error has no code associated with it, and simply has the message "The server could not be reached. Please try agan in a few moments"
Does anybody have any suggestions on what could be the problem? I am trying to change the netbios name of the 2TB drive so I can add a second new GoFlex Home drive to the same network.
The posted quick fix link posted here does not change the netbios name - I am guessing due to the fact remote access is disabled ... it seems as though the quick fix app works, but then after I reboot the my 2TB drive, the netbios name remains the same and isnt my actual goflex home name.
I "resolved" the Remote Access issue by doing a firmware reset - it is now enabled after initial setup. Dont know why I couldnt enable it before, nothing else was changed in order to get it enabled so it had to be an issue with my GFH itself.
