Hi. I'm trying to recover some deleted file from my GoFlex Home hard drive. So far I've installed Ubuntu 12.04 and have connected the hard drive to the computer via a SATA to USB kit. The problem I'm having is that I cannot mount the drive. When I use the Disk Utility, I can see the drive, but it says it's not partitioned (see attached screenshot). However, if I put the disk back to its base and connect to it via the network I can see the 3 partitions. I've tried with mount -t xfs /dev/sdb /mnt/stora, but I get the message "mount: /dev/sdb: can't read superblock". If I use xfs_check /dev/sdb, I get "xfs_check: /dev/sdb is invalid (cannot read first 512 bytes)", Can anybody please give me some help?

If you look at the info from your screen shot you will see its says "Not Partitioned"
You may have to use data recovery service to get your data or recovery software at least.
I am working on a customers drive now with a similar problem , the drive does not show up.
I can see it in Windows disk management but it does show in Windows Explorer or on the customers Mac.
Disk Management says the 1.8 GB partition is healthy but no other info on partition type.
There is a 200 MB EFI System Partition that does not mount in Windows either.
From briefly looking through the forums it looks like there maybe some issue with these drive having this failure. ![]()
