accessing other user files as a admin

I have setup the drive for two (2) user, User1 as adim. and user2 as a limitted user. ( I do not have the Pro version, since I only need 3 user).

If User1 uses Seagate Dashboard, then go to Seagate share, User1 can do Adim stuff, but can NOT see the files/folder of user2.

So how do User1 perform admin work on User2 files/folders?

Now if I use FTP (FIleZilla) I can see all the user, but User1 still dosen't have access to  the other User files/Folders.

If the admin needs to remember all the user password, and have to login as each user than this is a nighmare for the Admin.

I hope I'm doing something wrong, please help

Thanks

Re: accessing other user files as a admin

Nope, you are not doing anything wrong, that is how it works.

The Public folder is for everyone and Personal and Backup are only for the individual user.

As Admin you could reset the other users password and access their personal stuff, but that would be annoying for the other users.

Re: accessing other user files as a admin

that really suck.

Resetting the password is not an options, However I could set the passwords. The next problem is one user1 may need access to the user2 folders, but user2 can not have access to user1 folders. Now user1 needs two username/password and the admin needs 3.

I was hoping I could setup the drive as a FTP site, with different user, whom has access to different Folders.

As admin, I would have access to all the Folders.

Any solutions?

Re: accessing other user files as a admin

You could set the password, but you couldn't stop the user changing their password. Then when you needed access you'd have to reset it.

There's no easy answer for what you want to do, but here's a non-easy answer

You'll need Root Access to the Goflex Home
