hi,

recently purchased goflex home 1tb ethernet, and am trying to set up backup via timemachine on my macbook pro. i get the following error when trying to start first backup:

~~The network backup disk does not support the required AFP features.
~~Open Time Machine preferences to select a different backup disk.

I have the very latest update of Lion OS, and updated the seagate goflex home to the version 2.5.3:2.0.0.367:1.2.331

Help would be greatly appreciated.

I am having the exact same issue.

I have updated everything, have the latest firmware.

Here is my system info:

osx 10.7.2

2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

I AM PULLING OUT MY HAIR!! What do I do?

i have fixed my issue with the AFP shoot!  

i restarted both my mac & goflex, then created a new username in the goflex preferences area, then selected "goflex home backup" as the drive to backup with time machine too and used the new username & password, and its fully working!

Thank you! Your fix seems to be working. Is it still working for you?... not that you're going to check back to Seagate's site anytime soon. Seagate does seem to lack any interest in really helping GoFlex owners or in making their web site easy to use.

But a new user name and selecting GoFlex Home Backup as the destination disk is the answer to the AFP issue.

All - It appears that there is a new update to the Firmware that fixes this problem permanently.  

This is posted in a seperate Forum started by the Seagate folks. This solved the problem for me.
