iPhone App?

When I spoke with tech support last week, they mentioned an iPhone app that would be available so I can access my GoFlex drive via my phone.  Is this out yet?

Re: iPhone App?

It's called HipServ, see the 2.5 release notes.

Re: iPhone App?

Thanks, but it seems this is a third-party app, not one from Seagate.  The reviews make it seem like that app is not ready for prime time.  I downloaded it, and there were no instructions for how to use it.

Is Seagate coming out with an app, or do they expect their customers to use Hipserve (and figure out how to do it on our own)?

Re: iPhone App?

HipServe mades the software for using the harddrives on-line.

That being said, seeing HipServe make and iPhone, I understand. I cannot see Seagate themselves making an app.

Its just my opinion.

Re: iPhone App?

Any idea how to use the app?  It asks for:

Portal name

HipServ name

User name

Password

Thanks.

Re: iPhone App?

[ Edited ]

Roby,

I have a shared URL, from afraid.org that I use to forward to my Seagate harddrive.

I own 'http://my." and someone else own "intricatephotograpthy.com"

So I have "http://my.intricatephotography.com" pointing to my URL.

This being said, my IP might change any time, and I will have to update the recrod of the URL to my new IP address. My Linksys router checks the IP adddress, and if it has changed, it will update the URL pointers, with the DNS servers.

Nice, very nice.

So now, what the difference between using my URL and using the iPhone application? Looks the same too me, other that autoamtically logging it my seagate server.

Pretty sad, idenical.
