I ordered a Goflex before viewing this forum and noticed all the trouble people are having using this device. I was wondering if it would be smart of me just to leave this device in the unopened box it came in and wait for this company to fix these reported software problems or just return this drive to the store ASAP?. I was hoping to use this device for watching movies on my 4G xoom tablet, but if its not a good device for this use I will have to find another way. OPINIONS?

Well, it really depends on how inquisitive you are :-)
If I had the option I would return and then wait for any improvements.

I am sorry to hear that this hard drive doesn't work as well as it should. I will take your advise and return this unopened to the store. I hope someday some one will come out with a devise like this one that has not so many reported problems. This type of wireless hard drive would be a useful item to say the least.

I hope your decision above will be noticed by Seagate guys who have kept this promising device virtually unsupported for 4 months already.
In case they fix all the issues one day it will be available for buying even cheaper by then.

I am in the same boat you are. The only difference is I have been playing with it, trying to make it work. I have a large music collection and it is just not handling it well. Generally I don't give up quickly on technology as usually there is some value to the device, but with the issues I have been having I am seriously considering packing it up and taking it back to the store. I am very frustrated by the experience.
It might be ok from a movie standpoint, since there will be considerably less files to work with, and generally mine has done ok from a movie standpoint. Music has been horrible though.
