Hello,

I just got my Satellite today and trying to connect it to my windows 7 pc, it will not connect. Or the pc will not recognize it. I have checked under "computer". Not there. I also checked under "device manager", and it is not there. It is like it is not plugged in. It is all plugged in to a usb. I tripple checked the connections. I also tried  different usb port. I tried turning the firewall off. Nothing worked. How can I get this to be recognized by my PC, so I can put my files on it?

At this point I would suggest trying a different computer. It would appear that you might just have a defective unit,

Thanks so much for the reply. I did hook it up successfully to my netbook and was able to transfer files with no problems. So as I suspected, it is something with my dumb computer. When I tried just a little bit ago again, I can now see the icon in my tray. But I click to open it and nothing. When I look under "computer", it is not showing. And under device manager, it is also not showing. I think something on my computer is blocking it. I am going to try and turn off my anti virus and see if that corrects it. I will post what happens in a little bit.

That is an excellent idea, it is possible to have anti virus software configured to block loading USB drives. However if your software is configure to block USB drives, you may need to do more than simply shut down the software, you may need to go into it and actually enable USB drives again...

Care to share what anti virus software you are using?

I have McAfee Anti Virus Plus. I have had McAfee before and hated it. But the computer came with it. I have 61 days left till I get something else. I found 1 problem. The connnection to both usb's is sensitive. I had to wiggle it and not breath on it to get it to connect. But it still would not be recognized. Except in the task bar. I would click open drive and nothing would happen. Turned everything off and still not. I then put in a sd card into our built in card reader, and a minute later, there she was. So right now she is downloading all my stuff. So I don't know if it was turning off the antivirus, or putting in the sd card got things rolling. I don't know. Will see the next time I try and hook up the drive.

Thanks for your help. Any thoughts on what you think it might have been?
