So I was downloading a 1.2gb movie from the satellite to a laptop via Wi-Fi. The download appeared to freeze after 2 minutes of an expected 18 minute download time. I discovered that the computer was no longer responding.
Now, the Satellite will not turn off, Pressing the little reset button on the back does nothing. Attaching the USB cable does not result in the drive being recognized. The device is apparently frozen in an on state. I am hoping that when battery runs down that it will reset itself and correct whatever the original problem was.
I have had the unit for several days. It stopped responding on one other occasion, but a simple off/on reset got everything going again.
The on off button touch and feel lets me know that it is clicking (I think). I can definitely feel the click of the reset button.
Naturally, this couldn't have happen at a worse time as Monday morning I expected to show it to a group that could buy dozens of units related to my current project www.kioskevangelism.com

:-( Sorry to hear that.
Did it reset correctly once the battery ran down?

Yes, several hours later the unit ran our of power and shut down After a recharge it came on successfully. I have only used the unit for less than 2 hours and twice it froze up. The first time, I was able to reset it by turning it on and off. The second time I have just described. My confidence in giving the device to an associate is eroded. Is it possible that my unit is defective or is this a systemic error?
I have attached the scanner log hoping it may reveal something...

Hello,
My name is Patrick and I am French : sorry for my English.
I have the same difficulty;
The power led of My Go Flex Satellite is always green and it will not turn off after many minutes;
It is not possible to make the WIFI on.
What can I do?

If your GF Satellite doesn't turn off with the power switch then it has a mechanical issue.
You'll want to exchange that device according to the warranty policies for your regions - Contact Information

Regretably I am experiencing this exact same problem. I have had my GFS for barely two days and, while watching some videos on my iPad, I noticed the wi-fi LED was no longer flashing blue and that the connection was lost. I tried turning off the GFS by holding the power button for up to 10 seconds. It would not shut down. Thanks to this thread I found the reset button on the back - but no joy there either. I am now waiting for the drive to drain the battery in the hope it will reset itself.
I'm very disappointed. I had just finished loading it up with data and was really enjoying using it.

Update (several hours later): I have regained control of my GFS after letting the battery drop to zero and then doing a full recharge. It now works as it should...for now.

one of the things i have tried before was to press the power button and click on the reset button for a while.
i'm not very sure what that does.. but it worked for me the last time i had this issue...

The same funny problem here!
Bought mine 2 days ago.
upgraded FW to 12.0.0.1
issues:
- Connection drops after 2-3 min ( Wifi is connected but can't connect to HDD )
- Unit is freezing after connection is droped, power button not working ( device stays freeze! )
It's freeze itself after 3-4 min even no device is connected!!!
This is my first Seagate toy and would be the Last!
Interesting idea/Poor production
waiting for alternative product published by WD
