Upload to GoFlex Satellite from an Adroid phone

I just installed the latest firmware (1.3.5.015) and the latest Android app (1.3.5.973) onto my Samsung Galaxy S II phone and can't find a way to wirelessly upload from my phone to the GoFlex Satellite.  I have tried both the app and via the phone's built-in browser.  Does this remain impossible?  Or, am I missing something?

Thanks in advance,

Rich

Hi,

I believe the upload button is on the web interface in the Documents section.

Re: Upload to GoFlex Satellite from an Adroid phone

Harry,

Thank you.  Unfortunately, I'm not seeing the "upload" option.

Using a desktop browser I do.  I am directed to

http://172.25.0.1/mysatellite.psp?type=DOC&showType=webui&ordered=ASC&orderby=name

and see the following buttons:

 [Select All] [Download] [Upload] [Options]

Using the built-in Android on my Galaxy S II, I get directed to:

http://172.25.0.1/m/mysatellite.psp?type=DOC&showType=webui&ordered=ASC&orderby=name

and only get the [Options] button.

Hmmm....

Re: Upload to GoFlex Satellite from an Adroid phone

I did a bit more experimenting with a friend's Android tablet running Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS).  Here's what I found:

  • My friend's default browser is Dolphin.
  • Uploads to the Goflex Satellite from his Android ICS device work using the 1.3 firmware and the Dolphin browser.

The ability to upload from smaller screen devices (i.e., phones) seems to be the problem.

Re: Upload to GoFlex Satellite from an Adroid phone

I thought the only way to upload to the GFS was through USB.

I've got an ASUS Transformer (tablet) using the stock browser. I've looked everywhere for the upload button and can't find it. If you have managed to do an upload over WiFi I would be interested how you did it. Seagate have not really explained how the new WiFi facility works and what it achieves.

Re: Upload to GoFlex Satellite from an Adroid phone

Here's how it works on an HP TouchPad running CM9 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS) using the Dolphin browser (not the Seagate 1.3 Android app):

  • Install the Dolphin browser and select the option for the "Desktop" user agent when prompted by the setup wizard.
  • Make sure you're connected to your GoFlex Satellite.
  • Open the Dolphin browser and enter 175.25.0.1
  • touch the large "Documents" button on the left side.  You should see what I see in the first image attached to this post.
  • Since I can not figure out how to display more than one image per posting in this forum, I will be posting two additional images in the next two posts.
  • You should then see the "upload" btton that I see in my second post.
  • Post 3 will show you what you will see after a successful upload.

Let me know if you need more help.

Rich

Re: Upload to GoFlex Satellite from an Adroid phone

Rich

Thanks for that. It worked out brilliantly. The only difference I have is I can't use the IP address, I need to use "goflexsatellite" and that gets me in. The interface is smooth and once you get use to the slightly different operating practice its probably better that the Seagate Media App.

Incidentally I can upload from the Video, Picture and Documents tab but not from the Music or Folder View tabs. The document upload is the handiest one. All I would need to complete this handy tool would a means of deleting redundant files over WiFi after uploading. I'll need to play with it a bit more to appreciate what capabilities we now have. Again Rich many thanks, your digging around has helped a lot.
