battery usage during usb connection

Is it possible to use the battery when connected to a portable device via usb? I get the message  "high-power USB device connected" when connecting to my Samsung Galaxy Tab. If I use the DC adapter everything works perfect.

Is it possible to solve the problem by firmware upgrade in the future? Is it software or hardware problem?

Re: battery usage during usb connection

It would be good to check on the tablet's USB output specifications. Most likely it doesn't provide sufficient power to run the Satellite device. Additionally it might depend on the type of tablet you have and what comes provided from the manufacturer. I tried the same type of connection here with an Transformer Prime tablet and didn't get the same error.

Re: battery usage during usb connection

Sure, you are right, tablet can't provide sufficient power. But the question was "whether Satellite device can use the battery when the usb cable is connected in the same way as a DC adapter". May be it will be possible with the next firmware version?
