Re: other formats

GoodPlayer and Buzz Player seem to work the best over upnp or smb. But the stock player actually works great for viewing movies converted into the playable formats. The advantages with Buzz Player is that it will remember your playing position if you stop and restart and it allows playlists to be created which is a nice feature.

The goflex app is useless imho, it's just the webinterface as an app. A shortcut to the drives url would do the same function.

Use this, http://forums.seagate.com/t5/GoFlex-Satellite/telnet-credentials-for-goflex-satellite/td-p/110580 to get samba working. Then buzz (use buzzhd for ipad) will recognise the device from the "add network location" option.

I would also recommend adding ssh (openssh) to your device. Makes editing the filesystem much easier than via telnet or smb if you enable sharing the root partition (which is not recomended).

It's a bit of tinkering to add smb, but it's definately worth it!
