We would recommend that you test the drive with our diagnostic program Seatools for DOS. If you did just purchase the drive, you probably can exchange the drive at the store if you need to. Here is a download link to our diagnostic program.
If you have any other questions, please let us know.

How and what is it installed in, PC, Laptop, W7,XP, Vista, Ubuntu?
Anyway ensure your bios is in AHCi mode.

I copied recovery partition from my old hdd to momentus xt and install windows from recovery partition. WIN 7 64bit, laptop - ASUS n55sl.

If the clicking noise sounds like it is the arm reaching its travel limits...
A known cause of that is you have a virus on the drive you copied from.
Do a fresh, clean install from factory disks.

Put it in an external USB 3.0 housing with an external power supply or drawing power from 2 usbs and see if it clicks.
If yes, you got a power sufficiency problem.

Can you repost the ISO for the drive tools? My wife's 750GB XT is making a ticking noise, but only when backing up, and I didn't notice it until 10.7.4 went on it last night. My one (same OS version) is fine.
