At the end you have to TWEAK your Momentus XT like SSD drive because windows do not this for you, use a free genius little soft tool "SSD TWEAKER" here --->>> http://www.elpamsoft.com/
Is it SAFE free and EASY to do. Like SSD Drive you have to disable ALL (choose automatic setting if not sure, you must uncheck all) because windows 7/ Vista are a cow you must do this manually with SSD tweaker...
My Asus Laptop boot in 15s with this and my USB3 transfer rate is really really crazy... trust me no more freezing no crashing no bsod no **bleep**ting and no more nightmare...

This brings up a good point.
The 4GB SSD cache is a read only cache, it is not something that you can control where deletes will lead to the SSD "write degradation" problem that TRIM helps alleviate, as I'm pretty sure cache writes / deletes are all handled by the firmware. Also, while you can (and may want to) disable prefetch, superfetch and/or readyboost, I'm not sure you would want to necessarily turn off indexing on the drive. And you most definitely want to defrag this drive.
So, what does Seagate recommend for Win 7 tweaks of the Momentus XT?

I have used ssdtweaker for awhile on my desktop and since I put the new ssd in my laptop (along side the momentus xt), I have been running it on there as well. However it has not helped my problem at all with the momentus xt.
