I migrated to momentus xt 750 hard drive on my thinkpad x200 a month ago. I've had several issues with windows 7. The search function no longer works, all of windows troubleshooting services refuse to start, and I keep getting messages stating I don't have genuine windows. When I download the windows verification exec, it refuses to run.
Is there a problem coming from my old Hitachi 500 7200, and going to this hybrid format. Using transference
Running my lenovo thinkvantage trouble shooting software I keep getting failed tests on 'targeted read test failure (WHD10-NYJ) and 'Smart Short Shelf' test (WhD16-YO4).
But windows disk scan didn't seem to find problems.

Your W7 is licenced to another machine so it will fail verification, you will have to ring tthe MS toll free line to obtain a new serial number.

How can that be? It's exactly the same machine the win 7 came on, its just the hard drive that has changed. And I've upgraded 2 previous, non-hybrid, hard drives without problems. It seems the hybrid drive is the problem, is it not?

Nope, everytime you change a component Windows senses it and then want's to be verified again normally if you change more than 3 items at once, as the serial is registered to a different HDD Windows gets ultra picky about it to stop ppl running it on 6 drives for their friends with the same chipsets.
Have a look at volume licensing, I think in this case you've used up the amount of times Windows allows a change, but it could be the XT causing it as it won't be seen as just another HDD and Windows will deffo know the licensed HDD is no longer there, hth.

I contacted Microsoft and they provided a good solution.
The common cause for these mismatches is a faulty Intel Rapid Storage Tech driver
Download and install the latest version from....
then run another MGADiag report and post the results.
The hard drive obviously has its own problems, possibly causing the issues with Windows.
Seatools found failures on random read and smart short shelf tests. I've contacted Seagate last week about warranty and replacement via email link through Seagate web site, but there has been no response so far.
I didn't expect this drive to crash after 1 months use.
