I have a MSS2 500gb running the latest CA firmware.
All is ok with drive. Speed quite slow but does all I need it to.
APART from media streaming HD content.
It does stream normal *.avi etc , mp3 , jpegs no issues BUT the advertised uPnp compatible media streaming wont recognise common HD files like MKV etc.
Is there any firmware to help? Something I can do with the files / structure?
I borrowed a friends 4.5 year old Buffalo LinkStation and it worked a charm ![]()
Any pointers?

If your computer is on all the time, use TVersity.

Not needed. If one of my PC's was on , I could just stream HD directly to my media player.
Which accepts any format.
Whole idea doing it with a "media streaming" capable nas is to have the pc's off.
BUT when the MSS2 / CA does its media scan it does not put any HD files in the video folder.
I presume it doesnt know what the heck a h264, HDivx , or MKV is ![]()
Which means its not realy a media streaming capable NAS.
Update needed. Anyone know if this is being worked on.?
Failing that whats the consensus on third party software for the nas?

Not sure about mkv, but I used it to stream m2t/ts file which carries H264 from my HD camcorder without a problem.

Thanks,
Strange. Tried a few different HD file formats with no luck.
AVI's work no probs.
The main issue is that the CS decides what to put into its media "folders" instead of me being able to browse any file I want and attempt to play it.
I was hoping there was an update / work around for this.
The media playing capabilities are somewhat lacking.

Hi,
I use my MSSII as a mediaplayer to my TV / Audio set with network connection.
I can see the files on screen. But,
The software of my TV prevents HD streaming, I will find another solution in time.
Could it be the problem at yours, depending on your connections to your TV?
