Computer not detecting Maxtor Central Axis

I have used a maxtor central axis storage for the last 3 years wthout any problem in my networked work environment. I recently brought it home to connect to my network at home to use and be able to access saved files. I have attached to my Verizon wireless router via the ethernet Lan port - but when I run the software - it tells me the centeal axis drive is not found. I have gone out and bought a crossover cable to try and connect to my computer directly - but - it does not show up on my network drives nor when I run the software. When I have it connected directly to my computer - I check my network connection and it tells me the IP address is 169.254.43.154. When I take this address and plug it into my browser - it tells me I have an internet connection error. I have pinged the 19.254.43.154 using the cmd function and the packets come back 0% lost. Can someone help me get accss to my files? I have unistalled and reinstalled the maxtor software. I have resert the maxtor central axis. I have rebooted all devices. help. TIA!

Re: Computer not detecting Maxtor Central Axis

Did you try temporarily disabling your antivirus software? What do the LED lights on the drive look like? Are you able to access the MCA when it's directly attached to another computer?
