How to Setup USB Printer to Maxtor Central Axis Server on a Mac?

Hello All,

I have been struggling with setting up my Epson Stylus CX7400 as a
USB Printer to the Maxtor Central Axis NAS 1TB model. There is little
documentation on Mac networked USB printers running through a linear
setup.

Here's what I tried so far:

My machine: //Beast-Machine

Maxtor Central Axis: //AXIS-OF-EVIL @ 192.168.1.100

I tried TCP/IP printer on Mac Printer & Fax setup, as well as
other "Epson TCP/IP". Also, another venue was trying to change the
location of the printer to be //192.168.1.100 but that seemed to be not
recognized.

Help!

Hi,

Does this help?

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3049

Note that the URL would be:

smb://<hostname>/<printername>

Hello Chris,

Okay, so I read thru the Apple walkthrough, and set it up properly, I hope.

smb://AXIS-OF-EVIL/USB2.0MFP__1

It seemed to work... The Maxtor Central Axis had a login password, and everything looked good until I tried it.  Upon testing, I got these two errors.

"Connection failed: NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME"

"/Library/Printers/EPSON/InkjetPrinter/Filter/rastertoescp.app/Contents/MacOS/rastertoescp failed"

Re: How to Setup USB Printer to Maxtor Central Axis Server on a Mac?

Hi,

Is it showing 2 devices on the printer section of the status screen? I don't think that printer is going to work. Looks like the MCA is confused by the multifunction printer.

Correct, yes, the printer is listed as two separate USB devices.  Thanks for the help, Chris.  :smileyhappy:
