I've just spent all afternoon trying to get this to work and in the end...
Plug you printer in and set it up as a local printer. This will ensure the printer driver is installed.
In my case I'm installing an Epson Stylus Photo 950.
Logging on to the shared storage - Sytem Status page - I see this as 'Stylus-Photo-9'.
I then followed the instructions in How to Map a printer connected to the Maxtor Shared Storage Drive for Windows 2000 and Windows XP[18... to connect a Win2K computer to this printer. (I'd previously had ir on a stand alone print server) and then browsed for the driver.
This now works on the Win2K computer. It gave me a Port of //msdname/Stylus-Photo-9
I then went back to my Vist (ultimate) computer and clicked Add Printer. It found the printer OK.
