How to use SeaTools with Shared Storage drive

Hi, I have a Maxtor Shared Storage II drive (320gig), and it's making a lot of noise. The knowledge base suggests using SeaTools to spin down the drive to see if it's the drive that's gone bad, or the fan. But when I run SeaTools for Windows, it only finds the hard drive on my laptop, not the NAS device. I also tried SeaTools Enterprise, but it also only seemed to want to connect to local drives. Is there a way that I can connect to the external drive to test it? Thanks, Mike

Re: How to use SeaTools with Shared Storage drive

Hello,
Seatools is not used with network attached drives.
To test the MSS Shared Storage Drive:
Open the Easy Manage software and click Settings.
Go to Advanced Web Page and login to the web page.
Choose Advanced Settings and System Maintenance.
Click Diagnostics.

Re: How to use SeaTools with Shared Storage drive - Diagnostic scan

I too have had the same issue ..noise concerns and I have run the diagnostics... with the message " Diagnostic Scan and Repair test result is inconclusive. Please re-run this test." which I have done several times... I have reset the unit and uploaded the 2.6.2 firmware.. Is their any other software/process I can follow..as the hardrive noise is normal but occasionally there is a click (or several) which concerns me and I do not wish to risk data.
