Re: Maxtor Shared Storage - filesystem?

Hello,
The MSS drive runs Linux and uses the ext3 or third extended journalled file system.

Re: Maxtor Shared Storage - filesystem?

My Circuit board on my MSS died but the drive (according to maxtor drive diagnostic test) is fine, can I plug this drive into any linux based system to read the data and recover it?

Or does it have to be a particular linux OS for it to be able to read?

Re: Maxtor Shared Storage - filesystem?

The Driver actually uses the REISERFS format and ext3 linux base os wont recognise it.:smileymad:

Re: Maxtor Shared Storage - filesystem?

Any help here?? Trying to get the drive file system to be recognised by being pluged directly into a computer (ie taken out the casing and ide cable connected into the motherboard)  to recover the data but its unreadable in most linux os... How do I go about it? What can I do apart for the fav saying at maxtor.  "send it in and we'll recover it."
